After buying a spacious studio in Andheri (W), Shah Rukh Khan now has a different office address too. He has bought an eight-floor building that will house the new Red Chillies office on S V Road, in Khar.

With the production house's activities growing by the minute due to home productions and SFX work on films like Chak De India and Om Shanti Om, the need for manpower and space has only increased.

Says a source, "It will be a state-of-the-art office with high-standard infrastructure. Currently, a team of architects is designing the office. It will take another three to six months before the team can move into the new office."

The building is situated close to a famous nightclub on S V Road. "This office is going to be bigger and better than the previous office in every possible way. Going by the space, it will also provide many more facilities and amenities for its employees," adds the source.

Shah Rukh's manager Bobby Chawla initially denied that SRK has bought a new office. On being probed further, he confirmed the news and said, "We have taken the new place on lease. I wouldn't have the exact address right now. You will have to call me back tomorrow."

Shah Rukh Khan walked off from the sets of Chak De India recently, irritated with director Shimit Amit's endless requests for retakes.

"Shimit's tendency to shoot the same scene over and over, and over and over again, even when everyone present there could see that a take was fine, really got on SRK's nerves," says our source on the sets.

"I remember a scene that we were shooting at the Sahar Airport. The scene had SRK picking up a suitcase and loading it on a bus - so every time we had to re-shoot, Shah Rukh would offload the bags himself because he didn't want anyone to wait on him," the source said, adding that the tension was noticeably building up as more and more retakes were ordered.

"Shimit made those guys do that scene again and again. As a result, Shah Rukh got very irritated and at one point after doing one scene he just walked out and went home. SRK just stormed off!" says our source, adding that Shimit was generally seen by the crew as someone difficult to get along with.

Reportedly, Shimit's habit of ordering retakes unnecessarily irked SRK a lot. "Shah Rukh said he was 'waiting for the shoot to get over, and that he didn't want any more of this.' He said it in India, in Australia… on more than one occasion he made it quite clear that that he couldn't wait to get the film over and done with," says the source.

He adds that SRK eventually did not wait till the end. "The final scenes were being canned in Delhi and Shah Rukh didn't wait for the film to be wrapped up. He just finished his own shot and left. He said goodbye to all of us nicely. But he also told us, 'I'm so glad I'm finally done with it and there is no more Chak De - thank God for that!' and he left."

While SRK made his irritation visible, Shimit would be obsequious. "Shimit would basically be grovelling at his feet 'Sir… we want one more shot!' he would say," says the source.

Things only got worse after that. When SRK took the cast and crew to attend a special premiere of Don, Shimit slept through it. "SRK took us to a theatre in Sydney and neither the director of photography nor Shimit could stay up. In fact, Shimit was physically holding his eyes open during the show," the source says. "SRK felt bad but he didn't say anything."

At the same time, on location the constant retakes and long yet unnecessary hours were taking their toll on the crew and their weariness was showing. "After we finished the shooting in Delhi, Shimit told us all, 'Thank you. My movie will hopefully be a success. And I'm sorry for shooting the same scenes again and again. But this is the first sports movie in India and I want it to be the best and most remembered one,'" said the source, adding, "That's all he said."

Говорят, у Шаха не заладились отношения с режиссером Chak De India Шимитом Амином из-за того, что тот его просто достал своим желанием по многу раз переснимать сцены.

интервью с Шахом по поводу выхода Чак де Индия

You won't see him cry, you won't see him clean shaved, you won't see him romancing his co-stars and you won't see him bash up bad guys. King Khan, as he is fondly called is back in his third off beat role after Swades and Paheli where he plays the coach of a women’s hockey team in what's considered to be one of his most challenging characters he has ever portrayed onscreen. IndiaFM's London correspondent brings you an exclusive interview with ShahRukh Khan from his next big release Chak De India.

Chak De India appears like a very non-SRK film with you having no romantic liaisons or tear-jerking concerns.
I have known the director (Shimit Amin) for years. He is a very simple, hardworking and talented guy. He has worked with me in the film Asoka. He's a very sweet, unassuming kind of a guy and to choose a film which is on sports and which is normally neglected is daring. Apart from Lagaan, Hip Hip Hurray and Iqbal we haven't really made sports film now. It’s something that I wanted to do when I was younger but I didn't get a chance. So when I am old and grey and over the hill I am glad someone like Shimit thought that I could sort of fill in to a sports film. Field hockey has been a personal favourite sport of mine and I have been wanting my kids to learn it. I do feel I am no one to really comment from the outside that the state of Indian Hockey is not good but I have always felt that if there is anything I can do via the medium I love, that is acting, I will go to any extent to do it. Plus the fact that Yash Raj was producing it made it even special because they are all friends and family to me.

Also this time your character doesn’t have a lover-boy image.
Yes. I play Kabir Khan. He is a coach and an ex-Indian hockey player. He is having some problems in his life and wants to overcome them without being cynical and disturbed. He decides in his mind and heart that he is going to do something positive about it. It's a film about achievement in the face of failure and it's a film that looks at failure in a positive way. The idea is to take on some kind of a challenge and try to overcome that obstacle which had stopped you earlier so I would say the character is quite aggressive when he wants to be. It’s a mix of Jaideep's writing, Shimit's outlook, Adi's belief and my mannerisms and style – all rolled into one.

You don’t look the regular Shahrukh in Chak De India
I have reached a stage where directors do not want me to look the same old ShahRukh Khan. Shimit wanted Kabir Khan and that's how I look. A tough coach and a determined coach. I think the producer, director and the writer all thought that may be with a beard and shorter hair I would look different and I was fine with it. Only it’s very scratchy when you wake up in the morning. Even after a bath, you don't feel clean. I hope I don't have to grow a beard for another role for the next couple of years.

The entire hockey team in the film comprises of new actors.
Earlier I thought that working with newcomers would be a bit of a hassle because they would not know their lines. You know you become a little patronizing and a little kind at times, a little agitated and irritated too because things are not going the way you think they should go. But I think the whole production team had worked very hard with them and I do not want to take any credit away from these girls. I think they are very hardworking and wonderful. They have put their heart and soul into the film. They have practiced and learnt hockey, they have learnt the lines, they know the scenes they knew everything and at the end of it all after having worked for 18 years as an actor I thought I got a lot to learn.

Among the girls in the team, many of them must have been your fans.
We had a lot of readings before we started the film and couple of meetings so that we got easy with each other apart from some of them liking me. It's a little embarrassing because some of them were five to six years old when they saw my films. Then you suddenly realize, god! you are old and you've been in this industry for long. It was also important for me to be comfortable with them and not treat them like kids because the whole purpose of the character of Kabir is that he doesn't treat them like kids or girls he treats them like grown up, tough people. I think that little bit of being fans and stalwart compared to the others got over very fast in the reading and meeting stage and then we were all co-actors and co-actresses, just working together and having a great time.

You are known to be a sporty person. Did you play hockey in school?
Yes. I used to play a lot of field hockey in my school days. I was good at it but when I went and played for the film I was horrible. I was really awful. I had no stamina left. I think the technique of hockey has changed, Astroturf itself is very tiring. As shameful as it is to say but I thought I would be able to beat the girls but they kicked my butt as they were really good. I am no good at playing field hockey I realized. I realized while playing with them that it would be better if I use my status as a super star and not practice at all and tell them that I can pull it off by acting so I did that because I knew that no matter how much I practice, I would never be good at it but I have given it my best shot and hopefully it looks good enough.

What was your experience of working with Shimit Amin?
I think Shimit is a very sweet director. He's very quiet and very unassuming. He is an amazing technician because he himself is very skilled at editing which I think is half the battle won for a director and knowing fully what he wants, where he wants and how he will edit it. A sports film has to be shot in a very special way and normally it required somewhere between two to six cameras at times to shoot the film, so its very difficult to keep track of all that unless you happen to be a good technician. I think he has had a lot of education in world cinema and not just Indian cinema. He loves Indian cinema. Thus his exposure to both kind of cinema gives him an edge over a lot of other directors. He's young and he's made a wonderful film in the past 'Ab Tak Chhappan' and he's a friend. I have known him for years and he is very comfortable to work with. A really sweet guy, he doesn't get angry, is great by nature and knows his job. He's an ideal director to work with.

Hockey as a sports option is not very common in schools today. Do you think it's a good game for the children of today?
I just hope the film can educate people to understand that even though Hockey is played with a stick and white ball it's not pool, it's not billiards, it's a different sport. It's a national sport. I would tell kids to give it a shot if they like it and go ahead otherwise there is always soccer, cricket or a Taekwondo.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the words Chak De India?
Chak De strangely to me is a line from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge. I remember we used to say Chak De Phate in DDLJ. I hope Chak De India becomes like a sporting line whenever Sachin is playing. Or perhaps when Dhanraj Pillai is going with the ball, somebody screams Chak De India which means score a goal or hit a sixer or get Sania Mirza to win the Wimbledon.

Да он вообще сильно изменился за последний год. Эта его худоба совершенно нездоровая какая-то. Все черты лица заострились. Он резко постарел за последний год. И как бы он не накачал свою фигуру, но лицо постарело здорово, глаза впали, на фоне худого лица сразу нос стал выглядеть гораздо больше. И вид у него на всех практически фотках последнего года просто смертельно уставшего человека.
И я совершенно не понимаю людей, которые с утра до ночи твердят, что он сейчас отлично выглядит и находится в прекрасной форме. Это насколько же нужно быть слепыми, чтобы не видеть того, что с ним происходит.

А мне он напоминает Аджая годик где-то назад... Такой же нездоровый цвет лица и странная худоба, несчастные глаза -и все это прикрывается подозрительного вида прической. Ща вроде Аджай получче стал (ненамного правда) - может, и Шарик выправится...

CHENNAI: Director Shankar, the emperor of style, has pulled off a spectacular coup.

He has signed up Shah Rukh Khan to play the lead role in Robot, a sci-fi film, and supposed to be Shankar’s dream project. Robot is Shankar’s second project in Hindi, Nayak being the first.

King Khan was so bowled over by the story that he has stepped in as producer too. And Shankar’s magnum opus would be produced by Red Chillies Entertainment.


Shah Rukh, whose Chak de India is set to release soon, is so excited about Shankar’s film that he has decided to push all other projects aside, sources close to the actor revealed.

Work on the mega budget film will commence in four months’ time, although Shankar is already busy writing notes on every aspect of Robot.

The rest of the star cast is being finalised, and with the badshah of box office in the lead role, there is already stiff competition among other Bollywood frontrunners to go the Robot way.

Much is being read into the fact that Shankar and A R Rahman were in Canada on the eve of Rajnikanth’s Sivaji and speculation is rife that the latter may score the music for Shankar’s latest celluloid offering.

Shankar when contacted, refused to comment on the movie but confirmed that the film would be on the floors soon with SRK in the lead role.

Robot the making of which was first reported by this website’s newspaper, is likely to hit theatres in 2008.

Ты совершенно права. Шах очень сдал за последнее время. Видимо, боли в спине все таки дают о себе знать. Да и последствия прошедших событий тоже. Напряженные месяцы у него были. Хотя он и постарел, но красота его не увядает.

Ну так никто и не осуждает... :-) Но между нами и Шахом есть одна небольшая разница - мы просто по улицам ходим, а он на экране звездит. Так вот к чему это я? да к тому, что роли надо внимательно выбирать, с учетом возраста, чтобы потом не было мучительно больно, как сейчас смотреть на Риши в роли героев-любовников...

Мне кажется, что после КАНКа Шах уже не сможет играть героев-любовников. Такое ощущение, что он вместе с Девом простился с такими ролями. Теперь ему пойдет играть боссов или отцов маленьких детей...или что-то в этом роде. Быстро что-то он сдал. Жалко очень. Недавно снова пересмотрела АШОКА. Так Шах там такой красавец- умопомрачительный.

Я вообще-то не люблю фильмы о спорте. Только помню один голливудский "Фанат" с Де Ниро, - этот фильм интересный был.
Но "Чак де" очень жду.

Грустно мне почему-то, в последнее время хочется пересматривать с ним фильмы до 2000 года включительно. А почему? Герой-любовник в Шахе испарился что-ли? Но его взгляд, такой лучистый и нежный остался! Поправиться бы ему, хоть на пару килограммов!

По-моему, он там как-раз нынешний. Накаченный, волосы отрастил, просто бородку приделали. И он в этом клипе супер, потрясающе выглядит! Так что поживем, увидим! Сейчас он выглядет так, что любому другому актеру остается только завидовать! Так выглядеть в 40 лет! Он молод и душой и телом!

А потом понимаешь, что это невозможно, только не с ним. Я уверена, он очень гармонично откроет в Болливуде новый тип главных героев любовников- зрелых сексуальных романтиков с большими завораживающими глазами. с ним никто не сравнится

There were a lot of reasons first is off course the director I have known him for years and he is a very simple, hardworking and talented he has worked with me in the film Ashoka. He’s a very sweet, unassuming kind of a guy and to choose a film which is on sports and which is normally neglected say perhaps apart from Lagaan, Hip Hip Hurray and Iqbal now we haven’t really made sports film and its something that I thought when I was younger I should be doing but I didn’t get a chance so when I am old and grey and over the hill I am glad someone like Shimit thought that I could sort of fill in to a sports film and field hockey has been a personal favourite sport of mine and I have been wanting my kids to learn.it and I do feel I am no one to really comment from the outside that the state of Indian Hockey is not good but I have always felt that if there is anything i can do via the medium that I work in about the things that I think are special like field hockey is to me My father used to play,my friends use to play and I love it to so when all these things came together and off course Yash Raj producing it, they are all friends and family and I couldn’t have got a better chance to make a dream come true about doing what I like doing most which is acting and doing a subject which is close to my heart.

Can you tell us something about the character you play.
Just to first name the character it’s Kabir Khan. He’s a coach; an ex-Indian hockey player his living with some demons has got some problems in life has not been successful wants to overcome that but without being cynical or disturbed. He decides in his mind and heart that he going to do something positive about it so it’s a film about achievement in the face off failure and it’s a film that looks at failure in a positive way that if you haven’t done well fairly or unfairly the idea is not to give up or become cynical .The idea is to take on some kind of a challenge and try to overcome that obstacle which had stopped you earlier so I would say the character is like that he is quite aggressive when he wants to be. If you really ask me though I have played it I really don’t know what the character is I have played from my heart. Its mix of Jaideep’s writing, it’s a mix of Shimit’s outlook on the whole film, it’s a bit of Adi’s belief in the film and it’s a bit of my mannerisms and style, So it’s all rolled into one. I would like it to be thinking, feeling may be of an elderly brotherly kind of a character who you feel confident in, who himself is shattered from inside, so it’s very complex its not just like a simple explanation, I haven’t been able to understand it myself yet.

What was it like working with a whole lot of newcomers?
Fantastic, earlier I thought that working with newcomers would be a bit of a hassle because they would not know their lines, you know you become a little patronizing you become a little kind at times, a little agitated and irritated at times because things are not going the way you think they are going but I think the whole production and the whole team had worked very hard with them and not to take any credit away from these girls. I think they are very hardworking and wonderful they put their heart and soul into the film. They have practiced and learnt hockey, they have learnt the lines, they know the scenes they knew everything and at the end of it all after having worked for 18 years as an actor I taught I got a lot to learn, because there is a bit of rawness when newcomers come and face the camera working for so many years you tend to become a little mechanized .You see a scene with a young girl whose never acted before she says her few lines and they don’t seem like you would do them this way but when you hear it out it sounds very right so it’s a great learning process to work with newcomers. I had done that a bit in Swadesh but which was with still honed theater actors not film actors but here there were most of the girls had ever faced any kind of acting job so this was really nice and it was a great learning process for me.

Among the girls in the team many of them must have been your fans what was it like working with them?
The girls are very sweet and they were working really hard and we had a lot of readings before we started the film and couple of meetings so that we got easy with each other apart from some of them liking me, its a little embarrassing because some of them were 5/6 years old when they saw my films so it’s a little embarrassing to be working with girls where you suddenly realize god you are old, you have been working a lot but it was also important for me to be comfortable with them and not treat them like kids because the whole purpose of the character Kabeer is that he doesn’t treat them like kids or girls he treats them like grown up, tough people so I think that little bit of being fans and stalwart compared to the others got over very fast in the reading and meeting stage and then we were all co-actors and co-actresses just working together and having a great time and they were really nice, very well mannered very well brought up and really nice kids.



Is Chak De India another effort by you to do off beat film like Swadesh and Paheli?
I don’t think these are off beat films sometimes I like the stories because they are different and I don’t think Shimit and Adi are the kind of people who would make an off beat film its very on beat I think but the subject is that you cant make it every year, it’s a different subject so I don’t know what an off beat film is I don’t like boring films myself so I don’t try to do those. I think this is a film with a different kind of a soul and a different kind of a story line so that’s how it’s different and I don’t think it’s off beat.

К сожалению не поэтому. Просто она была не совершеннолетней. Вот и пришлось им ждать 7 лет. Как только ей исполнился 21 год они поженились.

Кстати, вот этот вид "Шах навеселе" - еще больше убеждает меня, что и сейчас Шарик спиртным не брезгует. Есть несколько фоток с абсолютно таким же его выражением лица и прочаяя... Как грится, ничто человеческое ему не чуждо...
