Yes! Shah Rukh’s made the mistake too. His long scruffy wig in ‘Asoka’ was unbearable. Considering the fact that he starts off with a trendy short crop, one wondered where the need was to go in for this wild transformation. It was absolutely un-Asoka-like and come to think of it looks more like a character out of ‘Lord Of The Rings’.

Кетан Мехта столь долго кричал, что в свой новый проект после Мангал Пандея он хочет Айшварию и только ее, что эта дурочка согласилась. На imdb фильм The Rebel уже стоит в анонсах на странице Айшварии.
Правда стоит на 2007 год. Очень надеюсь, что она все-таки спохватицца, и из фильма уйдет.

Фильм видимо будет ремейком старой картины (еще черно-белой) рассказывающей о востании раджпурской Рани Лакшмибаи против англичан. Она погибла в одной из битв.

Abhishek, Zayed, Aishwarya, Bunty Aur Babli, Himesh Reshammiya, Kunal Ganjawala, Alisha Chinai, Asha Bhosle, Sonu Nigam win at the MTV IMMIES 2005!

In the Hindi Films Category, the current hot favourites Abhishek Bachhan and Zayed Khan were chosen winners for their performance in the song Dus Bahane from the movie Dus.

The gorgeous Aishwarya Rai walked away with the Best Performance in a Song for her hit Kajra Re.

With Bunty Aur Babli winning the Best Film Album, Alisha Chinai too struck gold when she was declared the Best Female Singer for Kajra Re.

Kunal Ganjawala took home the award as the Best Male Singer for Salaam Namaste.

In the Special Category, the Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed upon Yash Chopra for his immense contribution to Indian music. The Best Fusion Album was won by the Medival Pundits who also gave a rocking performance at the post-event party. Padmashree Shree Jagjit Singh’s Raat Khamosh Hai was the Best Ghazal Album this year. The award for the Best Classical Instrumental Album was given to Ustaad Amjaad Ali Khan along with Bismillah Khan. Noted classical singer Kishori Amonkar won this year’s award for the Best Classical Vocal Album. Pundit Jasraj was declared the winner for the Best Devotional Album of the year.

Chokher Bali wins award at Bali Film Festival

An Indian film, Chokker Bali (Sand in the Eyes), an adaptation from Rabindranath Tagore's novel of the same name, won the Sarasvati People's Choice Award at the 7th Bali International Film Festival late last month.

The award is the latest recognition that has been given the film, a psychological investigation of relationships between the sexes in a wealthy family.

The film, directed by Rituparno Ghosh, which stars former Miss World and leading Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, competed in the 2003 Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland and won a National Award in India.

Set in India at the turn of the 20th century, the film also depicts the political turmoil that raged over proposals for territorial partition.

Bipasha has yet to sign the film. She would love to be a part of this film as it's a very interesting role.

Dad has lost some weight: Abhishek

Amitabh Bachchan's three-week stay in the hospital has left him lighter. "He has lost some weight. But by God's grace, he's recovering," says Abhishek, his son.

The Bachchans' three-week ordeal ended Saturday morning when he finally left Lilavati hospital in Mumbai to return to his mother's residence Prateeksha.

Earlier during the day Abhishek had driven into the hospital wearing a T-shirt that read 'Superman'. The minute Bachchan saw his son he caught on, "That T-shirt is for me."

A crowd of at least 200 people had already got wind of the Bachchans' plans. They waited anxiously outside his house when Abhishek drove his dad home.

The entire family is now gathered at Prateeksha where the steadily recuperating superstar is now re-gaining his strength.

It's unlikely that he will resume shooting for a while. Abhishek says the decision is entirely his father's. As soon as he feels up to it, he will be back at work, though it seems unlikely he would do so in the next two weeks.

Initially the plan was to stay at the Lilavati hospital a little longer. Bachchan had been advised by his close friends to stay in hospital than to move home where medical attention would be relatively lower.

"There were no plans to leave immediately," reveals a member of the family. "In fact, he wanted to continue in hospital. But he suddenly changed his mind Saturday and said he wanted to be home with the family."

On Sunday morning a huge crowd of onlookers gathered outside Prateeksha. Abhishek played the perfect host to them. Water was served to the strangers outside his home. The ailing mega-star made an appearance sometime in the morning.

All is well at the Bachchan front once again.

Amitabh's popularity defies all norms (Special)

There have been many superstars in Bollywood but none can match the enduring magic or the towering personality of Amitabh Bachchan.

Amitabh, who was discharged from hospital Saturday after almost three weeks following a stomach surgery, was the object of concern of millions of his fans across India and the world as they prayed for his recovery.

The loyal following the 63-year-old actor still commands in the face of younger stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan or Akshay Kumar is amazing.

The news-hungry media kept constant tabs on the latest about the superstar for the information of his fans. All television channels flashed his discharge Saturday from the hospital as "breaking news".

The longevity of Amitabh's superstardom has surprised all and sundry.

In the past too superstars like Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand and Rajesh Khanna enjoyed immeasurable popularity during their prime. Unlike Amitabh, their fame dimmed once they were past their prime, but this mega star shows no signs of losing his grip at the top.

So what makes Amitabh go on and on and on and stay at the peak?

TV personality Shekhar Suman says: "He was born as a special man with a special horoscope and entertained people in various ways. He redefined the image of a hero."

More than two decades ago, when Amitabh was hurt during the shooting of the film "Coolie" in 1982, a similar kind of panic gripped the entire nation.

A lean phase followed his recovery in 1982 but Amitabh re-invented himself as a showman with the TV game show "Kaun Banega Crorepati".

He debuted in Bollywood with Khwaja Ahmad Abbas' "Saat Hindustani" (1969) and struggled for four years for a hit. In 1973, with the success of Prakash Mehra's "Zanjeer", his career took off and there was no looking back for the tall and lanky young man.

In the years that followed, he emerged as the "angry young man", a messiah of the poor who stood up against burning social issues of the time - injustice, poverty and corruption.

Commenting on Amitabh's larger than life image, Shekhar Suman says: "The people who were jobless, poor and angry with the system identified with him and started idolizing him. He looks larger than life not only in reel life but in real life too."

Amitabh isn't what you would call conventionally handsome. His height and his voice, both of which set him apart, were at one time considered handicaps. But later they became his assets and made him arguably the biggest star Indian cinema has ever produced.

"I think popular would be an understatement", says filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, lyricist-script writer Gulzar's daughter.

"He is not only a national but an international icon because of his body of work."

Asked whether popular concerns over his health were justified, Meghna told IANS: "If you look at him as an icon, it is justified. It shows people are concerned. These are all signs of adulation and care.

"There is no right and no wrong because people are not intruding into the lives of the stars. They are just showing their concern by being there."

If in his prime Amitabh was working several shifts a day, even today he works 18 hours a day.

Amitabh is one of Bollywood's busiest and most visible actors. He is everywhere - his face stares out of magazines, newspapers, TV commercials and, of course, films. In his free time, he works as brand ambassador for numerous products besides shooting for "Kaun Banega Crorepati - 2".

So should Amitabh Bachchan continue this kind of hectic life at this age?

"No," says well-known film critic Taran Adarsh. "He needs to slow down a little. You need to look after your health because it is very important."

Amitabh's sudden illness not only worried his numerous fans but also sent a wave of panic through the entertainment industry, as he is involved in several projects worth Rs.2.7 billion (about $60 million).

But Adarsh says: "He has completed all his films except Ravi Chopra's 'Babul'."

The first film to hit the screen after Amitabh was hospitalized was Apoorva Lakhia's "Ek Ajnabee" where he plays the protagonist. Unfortunately the film failed to repeat the success of Manmohan Desai's "Coolie" - the first film to hit the screen in 1983 after his earlier accident.

"Family - Ties Of Blood" will follow "Ek Ajnabee".

Amitabh is also working with almost all the younger generation directors. He is in Karan Johar's "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna" to be released early next year.

His other films include Ravi Chopra's "Babul" where he is paired with Hema Malini again after "Baghban". Rani Mukerji and Salman Khan also star in it.

He has Vidhu Vinod Chopra's "Eklavya" which also stars Sanjay Dutt, Saif Ali Khan and Vidya Balan, besides Ram Gopal Varma's "Darna Zaroori Hai" and "Sholay".

Rohan Sippy, whose film "Bluffmaster" starring Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Riteish Deshmukh hit the screen during the weekend, is a great admirer of Amitabh.

"He is more than an institution, he has become an icon for all of us. We identify strongly with him," says Rohan.

Abhishek Bachchan is a relieved man. His father, Bollywood's resident icon Amitabh Bachchan, is back home with the family after a prolonged stay at the hospital.

In conversation with Subhash K Jha, Abhishek looks back at the harrowing time for his family, apologises to the media, and sheds light on how serious the Big B's illness really was.

It has been harrowing time for you, as for the nation.

Yes, it has. On behalf my entire family and our close friends, I want to thank each and every one who prayed for my father's well-being and recovery. And I want to thank every member of the media for being so supportive. I want to apologise to the media for not being as forthcoming about my father's illness as it would have liked me to be. I was expected to come out with a daily progress report. And I quite understand the need for information. I purposely refrained from speaking about his progress until his health stabilised.

Why?

I am superstitious about his health. I was worried. I felt until I bring Pa home and he is back to leading as normal a life as possible, and until he is on the road to recovery, it would be premature of me to speak about how he was doing. In fact, he wasn't okay for a large part of his stay in the hospital.

You're underplaying the seriousness of his illness.

Well, he was critical for a large part of his stay in the hospital. He recovered slowly and steadily. In fact he continues to recuperate even now, when he has been discharged from hospital. Now, much to our relief and joy, he is back home with us.

He seems very comfortable.

He is back home. And he's with the family. And at this point, that's what he wanted the most. But, once again, I'm sorry if I offended media-persons by not speaking about his health. I was nervous. I was superstitious.

If I fell short in my behaviour with others, I apologise. But at that point, my priority was to be a son to my ailing father. Until I brought him home, I didn't think it was opportune to make any statements.

The nation's anxiety for health bulletins on Amitji was immense. Hence the media's constant attention.

Well, his fans and friends were getting daily information on his health. But, as I said, my dad's safety and comfort far exceeded my desire to be accessible to the media. I don't know whether it was right or wrong. But that was the state of mind at that point of time.

To be very honest, I wasn't even thinking of the repercussions of my behaviour. I was only concerned about my father's health and the comfort of my family. Reports that the family was being secretive were completely incorrect. It's just that when there is an illness in the family, all attention is focused on seeing him well. Other things didn't cross our mind. Next time around -- and I hope there isn't one -- I'll take note of the mistakes I made this time. I'll try to be more forthcoming.

Do you feel Amitji needs to slow down his work pace?

No, not at all. Each individual knows the limits of his body and how far to push himself. My father knows his limits and has always worked within them. I feel his capacity for hard work is far beyond the normal. I hope he gets back to his normal life. Because that's what makes him happy. And I like to see him happy.

If he's happy working at the same pace as before and if that pace continues to suit him, then I'm happy. I'm sure he'll be more caring of his health now -- and he always has been -- not just for himself, but for all of us.

His condition wasn't caused by over-work?

No, certainly not! The events during the last 20 days had nothing to do with his workload. The illness was not in his control. I know he takes very, very good care of himself. He is a very responsible son, husband, father and grandfather. He knows his duties towards his family and his audience.

The question isn't of slowing down. He works the way he thinks he should. He doesn't exceed his limits.

I'd like you tell us where Amitji's health now stands.

My father is in good spirits. He is still very weak and requires a lot of bed-rest. He is happy to be back home and back with the family, but he needs to rest.

The pictures of him coming out of the hospital had you wearing a Superman t-shirt.

I wore it just to cheer him up and let him know he is Superman. He guessed the connection. As soon I walked in, he said, 'Is that t-shirt for me?'

As a son I'm truly indebted to all his fans and friends for all the prayers. I promise I'll try to work as hard as possible to try and repay all the debts. I don't know whether I can repay the debt. But I'll try.

What has the whole experience taught you?

It was very humbling experience. We are all human beings. And we need to take good care of ourselves.

Bachchan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on Sunday night and taken to room 1123, a super-deluxe room, on the 11th floor.

The family also booked a room adjacent to it, which is where visitors were being taken. “The celebrities make a ‘get well’ entry in a register left there, speak to the Bachchan family and leave,” said a source very close to the Bachchan family.

So, film personalities like Gauri Khan, Govinda, Mandira Bedi, Juhi Chawla, Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan, Suniel and Mana Shetty, Akshay Kumar, Kiron Kher, Vijaypat Singhania, Riteish Deshmukh, Chhagan Bhujbul, Abu Jani/Sandeep Khosla, in fact, did not get to meet the superstar.

Sources have squarely placed the blame on none other than Abhishek Bachchan. It is he, who decides who can meet his father and who cannot.

A film producer who visited the family yesterday said, “People coming to meet Bachchan are required to first call Abhishek, he then allots them a time for an appointment for a meeting with the family.”

But Bachchan has been keen for company. After coming to at the ICU yesterday, he reportedly said, “Mujhe yahan akela kyon rakhan hain. Mere tabiyat theek hain. Mujhe koi milne kyon nahin aa rahan hain?” said Bachchan.

“People are not allowed to go inside to prevent chances of Amitabh picking up post-operation infections. Even those who have been allowed in, wear masks and gloves as a precaution. They only go in when it is necessary,” said one of the doctors, adding, “No one’s allowed to touch Amitabh.”

Вапще-то Аби поступал правильно, имхо. Спасибо, что пришли, конечно, но... жизнь отца важнее всего. И в такие моменты плевать на то, что думают окружающие... По себе знаю... Надо отдать должное Аби - он еще держался молодцом и соблюдал правила приличия. Я на людей стала срываться, когда мою мать в 4-й раз за короткий срок скорая вывезла. нервы сдали

Kareena criticized Ash?

Ссора Карины и Амиши – общеизвестный факт... теперь мишень Карины - Аш... Бебо отпровергла слухи о ее предстоящем дебюте с голливудским актером Джаредом Лето. В фильме под названием "Gandhi Park" также заняты Насируддин Шах и Шехназ Патель, но не Карина – Карина дала это четко понять. Она снимается сейчас у Аббаса и Мустана в фильме "36 China Town". "У меня нет договоренности подобного рода и нет никакого голливудского проекта... Я не из тех людей (это про Аш?), кто умирает от желания поработать с голливудским актером. Я получаю хорошие роли в Индии и сейчас я полностью сконцентрирована на работе в фильме "Отелло" Вишала Бхардваджа".
Аш, конечно, может пропустить критику Карины мимо ушей. В конце концов Карина не назвала ее имени... Но это уже дело Аш...

«Россия» на запчасти

После разбора гостиницы «Россия» ее панели будут использованы при строительстве новых отелей

Вместо одной большой гостиницы «Россия» в Москве будет много маленьких отелей для людей и даже для животных. Об этом заявил на пресс-конференции главный архитектор Москвы Александр Кузьмин. Вторая главная задача столичных архитекторов в будущем году – строительство дорог. В частности, планируется начать строительство четвертого транспортного кольца.

Также планируется доработать проект малого и большого железнодорожных колец. Малое будет находиться в черте города, а большое – за пределами МКАД.

Эстакады и тоннели

Работы по прокладке четвертого транспортного кольца начнутся в 2006 году, и, по предварительным прогнозам Кузьмина, прокладка путепровода начнется на востоке столицы. Общая протяженность дороги составит 74 километра, а первым ее участком станет участок между шоссе Энтузиастов и Щелковским шоссе.

Строительство четвертого кольца будет очень сложным, поскольку почти весь путепровод будет проходить в туннелях или на эстакадах. По проекту, новый автомобильный путь пройдет вдоль нескольких рынков и обогнет территорию Измайловского парка.

Самыми тяжелыми участками Кузьмин назвал два глубоких подземных тоннеля под Москвой-рекой, один из которых пройдет в районе Филевского парка. Также большое внимание уделяется дополнительным электроподстанциям, поскольку свет на эстакадах в ночное время суток должен быть ярким, а о тоннелях и говорить не приходится.

По словам главного архитектора столицы, при норме 3-4 новых подстанций в год раньше сдавали в срок одну-две. В ближайшие четыре года ежегодно в эксплуатацию будут вводиться шесть новых объектов подачи электроэнергии. «Потребление электричества неуклонно растет, а к чему приводит недостаточное количество подстанций, мы с вами недавно убедились», – отметил Кузьмин.

О сроках сдачи проекта Кузьмин умолчал и напомнил, что третье транспортное кольцо протяженностью всего 34 километра строили почти пять лет. О целесообразности постройки нового путепровода Кузьмин сказал следующее: «Я помню, как меня спрашивали перед сдачей в эксплуатацию третьего транспортного кольца: «Разве кто-то будет им пользоваться, у всех уже есть привычные маршруты». Результат говорит сам за себя».

Идет разработка еще двух транспортных колец – но уже железнодорожных. Примерный маршрут малого железнодорожного кольца уже известен – он пройдет по таким городским артериям, как Москва-Сити, площадь Гагарина, Владыкино, Ботанический сад. Большое железнодорожное кольцо будет проходить за МКАД и возьмет на себя часть сортировочных функций. «Некоторые товарные поезда следуют транзитом, некоторые перегружают товары из одного состава в другой – это ведь необязательно делать именно на московской земле», – заметил Кузьмин.

Одной из главных задач на будущий год Кузьмин назвал завершение строительства Звенигородского проспекта. Уже наполовину завершены работы под лесничеством московского парка «Серебряный бор», построен мост через Москву-реку, идет строительство трехуровневой развязки на улице Народного ополчения и на Соколе.
