"Рецензия" на DIL DIYA HAI, кто ж так пишет? Ни фига не понятно, ни о чем кино, ни откуда персонажи берутся...

It’s courageous to take an unconventional plot, but it’s imperative to do justice to it. Most of the times, an interesting concept runs out of gas due to inept and shoddy handling.

Director Aaditya Datt’s second outing DIL DIYA HAI also boasts of a rarely-seen-earlier plot. But, thankfully, Datt handles the theme with competence, making you realize that he’s climbed the ladder as a storyteller.

In his directorial debut AASHIQ BANAYA AAPNE, Datt showed that he was proficient technically, but the rough edges in the writing showed their ugly head occasionally. However, Datt seems to have overcome the deficiencies in his new film. For, it’s the drama in the post-interval portions as well as the stylish execution that makes DIL DIYA HAI a notch above the ordinary.

Not that DIL DIYA HAI is foolproof in terms of writing, but the poignant moments in the plotline more than camouflage the deficiencies. Another reason why DIL DIYA HAI works is because the performances by the four vital characters -- Emraan, Ashmit, new-find Geeta Basra and Mithun -- are commendable.

Overall, DIL DIYA HAI is no masterpiece, but it’s without doubt a watchable fare. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Saahil [Emraan Hashmi] runs a travel agency with a friend [Paresh Ganatra] in U.K., which undertakes traveling and sight-seeing in and around U.K. The duo con their clients to make some extra money. Reason: Saahil needs to make money for his mother’s treatment, who lies on her death-bed in a hospital.

Enter Neha [Geeta Basra], who is on a holiday tour with her family. They book Saahil’s travel agency to guide them in and around U.K. Saahil takes them on trips around London. When Neha and her family are about to leave for Scotland, she misses the train. She is left all alone with Saahil in London, but she asks him to take her to Scotland by road.

Saahil refuses initially, but relents subsequently. During the course of this journey, Neha realizes that she’s in love with Saahil. On reaching Scotland, Saahil gets to know that his mother’s condition has deteriorated. He tries gambling for quick money, but is unable to see any way out of this situation, except one option. An indecent option…

Saahil was once asked by a stranger to sell girls to him, for which he will be paid heavily. However, he had resented the proposal then. But that’s the only option left for Saahil now. In a spate of madness, Saahil makes a deal of handing over Neha to the stranger for the money required to save his mother. The stranger works for Kunaal [Ashmit Patel].

Kunaal owns ‘Erotica’, the biggest brothel and sex centre in U.K. Kunaal is the brains behind all kinds of illegal business, right from drugs, mafia, contract killing etc. He is a cold-hearted, ruthless man. When Neha retaliates to Kunaal’s objective of making her a part of this business, he cannot but help get influenced by her innocence. He begins to discover love that Neha evokes in him.

Meanwhile, Saahil returns to London with the money and saves his mother, but he also realizes that he is unable to erase Neha from his memory and is in love with her. He also realizes the magnitude of his sin and decides to bring Neha back into his life. But there’s a problem: Kunaal.

The initial portions may give an impression that DIL DIYA HAI is one of those monotonous love stories that have been beaten to death on the Hindi screen. Girl loves boy, boy doesn’t reciprocate, he has his mother’s illness on mind… haven’t we had an overdose of such themes?

Just when you’re about to burst into a big yawn, the twist in the tale makes you jump on your seat. The protagonist sells his lady love to a brothel. Whew! In essence, the portion bears a striking resemblance to the Korean film BAD GUY, but the plot moves in a serpentine fashion as it unfolds, catching you unawares at vital points.

The post-interval portions begin at the brothel and the story actually takes off at this point. A number of sequences hold your attention in this part, like Emraan and Ashmit’s first meeting [Emraan wants to take Geeta back, but Ashmit hits back] is power-packed. Another noteworthy sequence is in the pre-climax, when Ranjeet [Ashmit’s father] instructs Ashmit to hand over Geeta to Emraan/Mithun and Ashmit revolts. The conflict, right till the climax, keeps you glued to the screen.

But there are minor hiccups in an otherwise absorbing screenplay. How does Ashmit develop feelings for Geeta so suddenly? There should’ve been a scene or two to justify the one-sided feelings. Also, Emraan escaping with Geeta from the brothel and taking on an army of Ashmit’s sidekicks single-handedly is difficult to absorb.

Moreover, Mithun breaking into a song at a crucial juncture is another flaw. Firstly, it’s really odd to see Mithun break into a song and two, a song at this juncture reminds you of Bollywood of 1980s, when actors broke into songs, whether or not the situation demanded.

Aaditya Datt shows a vast improvement as a storyteller. Save for minor hiccups in the screenplay, Datt handles the complex subject with supreme confidence, belying the fact that this is his second film. A number of dramatic sequences are well executed and elevate the film to the watchable status.

Himesh Reshammiya’s music is not at par with the hit score of AASHIQ BANAYA AAPNE, but a couple of tracks stand out nonetheless. ‘Dil Diya’ is the best track; both the versions [Ashmit-Geeta and the remix version at the end titles] are notable. ‘Mile Ho Tum To’ is another tuneful composition and the orchestration is striking. Cinematography [Attar Singh Saini] is of standard. The outdoor camerawork is more appealing.

DIL DIYA HAI is embellished with superior performances, with Emraan topping the list. Emraan has been consistently good, but DIL DIYA HAI gives him scope to play a serious guy all through, which he handles with effortless ease. This easily ranks amongst his finest works. Ashmit is a revelation. Cast in a negative role, the actor evokes terror and hatred due to his effective portrayal.

Newcomer Geeta Basra not only looks alluring, but also acts with confidence. She handles her part like a seasoned performer. Only thing, she should go easy on her makeup. Mithun is likable this time. The veteran is restrained and that works to the advantage.

Kitu Gidwani is wasted. Paresh Ganatra [seen in NO ENTRY last] hams. Ranjeet, Sandeep Mehta [Geeta’s father] as well as the woman playing Geeta’s sister are adequate. Udita Goswami [sp. app.] sizzles in the opening track of the film.

On the whole, DIL DIYA HAI has decent merits and an offbeat storyline that should appeal to the youth mainly. At the box-office, the merits as well as the reasonable pricing should ensure a safe and smooth ride for the film.

Mithun's the best part of Dil Diya Hai

You'd be forgiven for laughing if I said Mithun Chakraborty is the only saving grace of any film, but that's true for Aaditya Datt's Dil Diya Hai. The actor is the only one who has put in a good performance.
Dil Diya Hai stars Emraan Hashmi, Ashmit Patel and newcomer Geeta Basra. Although it initially appears to have a different story line, it ends up being as repetitive as any of Emraan's old films. Be it Aashiq Banaya Aapne or Aksar, they all feature similar wardrobes (jeans and a smart jacket), a foreign locale and a Himesh Reshammiya soundtrack.
The Hashmi package -- his look, the way he emotes, the poses, the way he walks during the songs, the glances he gives his heroine -- is all so similar that you wonder if you are watching a new film at all. The only thing missing here are his famous lip-locks. It now remains to be seen if people will still flock to see his films, minus the kissing.
The tale begins in London, where Saahil (Emraan) is a tour guide who cons clients to make an extra buck. He needs the money to pay for a lung transplant for his mother. Enter Neha (Geeta), who is visiting London with her family. She forgives Saahil easily even though he tries to con her. Not just that, she plays a prank on him and goes clubbing with a complete stranger. Then comes the inevitable. She misses her train to Scotland and is left alone with Saahil.

Even though his mother is on her deathbed and he needs to arrange money for the operation, he agrees to drive her to Scotland. On the way, she eats a sandwich and starts throwing up. They land up at Ronnie's (Mithun) house, where Saahil drinks himself silly. The next day, after dropping Neha off, he finds out about his mother's deteriorating condition. He gambles, but fails to come up with the money. He remembers that he was once given a proposition to sell girls. Remember the Robert Redford-Demi Moore film Indecent Proposal?You will find similar scenes here. In his crisis, he accepts the proposal, abducts Neha and sells her for enough money to get his mother operated.
Neha has been sold to Kunal Malik (Ashmit), a brothel-owner hunting for some Indian skin. The only truly emotional moment is when you see a helpless Neha cuddled on a sofa, crying as she realises her love has thrown her into such a predicament. Apart from this one scene, Geeta Basra has nothing to offer in terms of acting. Meanwhile, Kunal has bought her as a prostitute, but ends up falling in love and wanting to marry her. Then comes the climax...
Alhough the film has a different plot, the half-baked screenplay and characters mar it. Aaditya hasn't progressed beyond his last, Aashiq Banaya Aapne. Cinematographer Attar Singh Saini fails to do justice to the beautiful locales. Himesh's music is strictly okay, while Ashmit fails to evoke any hatred. Finally, Geeta Basra looks good, but that's about it.

Из первоначального состава Aankhen стопроцентно будет только Амит и продюсер Гауранг Доши. Даже режиком будет не Випул Шах. Остальные актеры еще не финализированы. Гауранг не признается, с какого из двух вариантов финала первого фильма будет начинаться сиквел.

Sequels are in. Every established and resourceful producer is making one. And why not? With sequels to HERA PHERI [PHIR HERA PHERI], KOI… MIL GAYA [KRRISH] and MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S. [LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI] proving smash hits and the sequel to DHOOM [DHOOM 2] being awaited with bated breath, the dream merchants in Mumbai are getting ready to write a new chapter in film-making.

Now get set for the sequel to AANKHEN.

The Amitabh Bachchan - Akshay Kumar - Arjun Rampal - Paresh Rawal film will have a sequel. Gaurang Doshi, who produced AANKHEN, is working on the pre-production of the sequel currently. “It’s called AANKHEN 2,” he tells me.

Gaurang is tightlipped about the film since he’s yet to finalize the four important players in the sequel. “I can’t make a film without Amit-ji [Bachchan Sr.]. Of course, he’ll head the cast of the sequel,” he smiles. What about Akshay? “No, he’s not connected to the sequel. We have finalized two top names, besides Amit-ji, and are in the midst of finalizing the fourth. So, it’s premature to drop names at this juncture,” he adds.

Vipul Shah, who directed AANKHEN, won’t direct its sequel, since things weren’t hunky-dory between Gaurang and Vipul when AANKHEN released. “Actor-director Sachin is directing the sequel. In fact, Sachin and his team of writers are writing the sequel,” Gaurang divulges.

AANKHEN had two endings -- the first for the Overseas audiences, the second for the Indian audiences. Which end will form the beginning of AANKHEN 2? “I am not revealing that yet,” Gaurang laughs aloud. AANKHEN 2 goes on floors in November this year, along with Gaurang’s other film HAPPY BIRTHDAY, directed by Sriram Raghavan.

Не то слово,Люсик! Как ж без него? Это ж всё впечатление и желание смотреть падает... Ведь первая часть ориентирована именно на них с Амитом. Мне фильм очень понравился.Вот только я бы оттуда вообще все песни убрала, для большей достоверности.
А что выйдет у них теперь, без Акки...

А Амит-джи тут ни причём... Не Он ведь решает, кто с ним будет сниматься, а кто нет.. Если у кого-то возникло желание снять продолжение какого либо фильма, то это ещё не означает, что все герои смогут участвовать в таком проекте.. Амит-джи дал своё согласие - молодец, будет ещё 1 фильм наслаждаться Его мастерством..

Shirish Kunder vows never to work with producer Sajid Nadiadwala again, after his unpleasant experience during the Jaan-E-Mannshoot

Reports that Shirish Kunder will be making another film for his Jaan-E-Mann producer Sajid Nadiadwala has the young director seriously alarmed. "I never said I'll make my next film for Sajid. That isn't even a remote possibility of it. In fact, it's an impossibility."
He describes the experience of making his first film with Sajid as not entirely pleasant. "It was my first film and I had to make painful compromises. It wasn't a pleasant experience at all. I wanted everything to be as perfect as possible. But life, alas, is never perfect," he says.
Shirish isn't complaining about the lack of infrastructure or resources but about the other problems he had to face. "Lots of dates were cancelled. I had to shoot a 25-day schedule in 10 days. Once the schedules began to be cancelled, leave alone even the technicians weren't available! I had to make do with some inexperienced technicians. Can you imagine what it was like to keep breaking the normal patterns and start afresh with people I didn't know?" he says.

But Shirish is happy with the final outcome and has already started planning his next film. It's a bigbudget futuristic film. "And I'm looking for the right producer and team to work with. As far as I'm concerned Jaan-E-Mann is a baby that's already born. It's time to think of the next. I need to weigh my possibilities very carefully. When you've faced a lot of problems making your first film, you obviously have to be doubly careful with your second project."
While Jaan-E-Mann is a romantic musical, Shirish's next will not be in the same genre. "It's a totally difficult genre…very difficult to describe. It starts in the year 3025 and simultaneously moves into the present time-zone. You could call it a futuristic thriller with lots of special effects. It will be an expensive film. Therefore I need big stars in it." The next film's cast will also be different from Jaan-E-Mann except, probably, Akshay Kumar. "He's one actor from the cast who never treated me like a firsttimer but gave me complete attention and respect. I must work with people who want to work with me. I cannot go and beg stars to work with me. And I can't work with co-stars who aren't comfortable with each other either," says Shirish.

The 80's hit Umrao Jaan, a story of a courtesan of Lucknow gave the beautiful Rekha a whole new identity. The character Umrao Jaan so beautifully portrayed by Rekha that she became the face of the character of Umrao Jaan. But now, nearly after two decades, J.P.Dutta has remade the classic and none other than the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai steps in to play the historic character. And today, IndiaFM brings you the exclusive teaser of Umrao Jaan.

The promo begins with picture of an old Nawabi Haveli with glittering golden text saying “19th Century Lucknow - The Age of Passion” juxtaposed on it. The video then opens with Aishwarya Rai sitting in the middle of a courtroom. Ash who plays Umrao Jaan wears a beautiful golden dress and a transparent golden chunari covering her face and her eyes closed. The camera rotates around Aishwarya who sings the introduction lines of a song with dance actions only in the form of hand moment. She is surrounded by the Nawabs on all sides and as she opens her eyes, she sees Abhishek Bachchan who is also one of the Nawabs, sitting right in front of her.

Aishwarya then gestures a Salaam welcoming the guests; Abhishek Bachchan in particular. The veil covering her face gets lifted and what you see is the new Umrao Jaan, Aishwarya Rai looking more gorgeous than ever. The actress dressed as a courtesan in a golden dress looks mesmerizing with her magnetic blue eyes hypnotizing the viewer. The 44sec teaser itself is enough for Ash to put across the message bang on to the audiences that Umrao Jaan is coming.

Похоже, они все помешались на призраках... Баччан играет призрака. Теперь еще и Иша... Как всегда, в фильме РГВ. Вместе с ней - Фардин и Иша Коппикар. Фильм - комическая история, то бишь пугать никого не будут.

Esha Deol haunts Isha Koppikar

Well, here’s the scoop of Ram Gopal Varma’s latest directorial venture Darling. As against the title, this isn’t a romantic film (you can expect that in his other film Nishabd). On the contrary this is a ghost story. Not the typical scary types though but on a much lighter note.

In this film Fardeen is paired opposite two women who sound the same but spell different (Esha Deol and Isha Koppikar). Esha Deol and Fardeen Khan are in love until Esha suddenly passes away. Fardeen hooks up with Isha Koppikar and they get married. Now the fun begins when the ghost of Esha Deol who is still in love with Fardeen and has not yet crossed over into the other world comes into their lives and enters Isha’s body.

This is Fardeen Khan’s second encounter with a ghost. The first time was also in Ram Gopal Varma’s Bhoot. However that film was more serious while this film is an out an out comedy.

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, chosen as the sexiest Asian Woman of 2006 in a poll conducted by a renowned magazine.
Besides Priyanka, who topped, there are five other Bollywood beauties who have found their place in the top ten are Bipasha Basu, Aishwarya Rai, Mallika Sherawat, Riya Sen and Malaika Arora Khan.
Last year the same title was given to sultry Bipasha Basu.
When informed, Priyanka was apparently looking applauded. Sure beating Aishwarya Rai is always an overwhelming experience.

Ram Gopal Varma has done it again. After getting the real life father and son duo play reel life father-son duo for the first time in his film Sarkar, he has decided to extend the family. He has cast none other than Aishwarya Rai opposite Abhishek Bachchan in Sarkar 2 which also stars Amitabh Bachchan.

The sequel will start filming in February 2007. This is one of the many films that Aishwarya has signed opposite her rumored boyfriend in many times. Ramu finds Aishwarya Rai perfect for the role. Well if rumors of the couple being an item are true then this will be only the second time when all three come together after they did an item song in Bunty Aur Babli.

All in the family? Well only time will tell.

Asha Bhonsle will sing Mehbooba for RGV’s Sholay

With the news of RGV’s Sholay making rounds in the media, here’s a new addition to it. Asha Bhonsle will be singing the famous track ‘Mehbooba O Mehbooba’ in the new Sholay. The original song being sung by her late husband R.D.Burman, Asha says that when she got the offer, she thought she’d better sing it herself rather than allowing someone else to do it. That way, the damage to the original will be the least.

Apart from this, Himesh Reshammiya and Amitabh Bachchan are also recording a different version of the song for the film. This version has more retro feel to it. Interestingly, Himesh will also feature in the music video of the song along with Big B.

Аша Бхосле перепоёт песню ‘Mehbooba O Mehbooba’ для римейка Sholay.

Оригинал песни пел её муж R.D.Burman. Когда ей предложили поучаствовать в новом фильме, она решила спеть песню сама, не доверяя её никому.

А Химеш Ришаммия вместе с Амитабхом Баччаном тоже записали свою версию этой песни, которая отличается от оригинального звучания. Также, выпустят видео этой песни с участием Химеша и Амитабха Баччана.
